COURSE SUMMARY

UETDRRF006 – Perform Tower Rescue covers the performance of rescue procedures from an Electricity Supply Industry tower in the workplace.

Perform Tower Rescue specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from an ESI tower and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of performing work.

The application of the skills and knowledge described this unit may require a licence/registration to practice in the workplace subject to regulations for undertaking of electrical work.

Our Training is conducted by experienced Emergency Services personnel and Height Safety Specialists who have the knowledge and experience to walk you through the requirements to perform tower rescue correctly. We specialise in tailoring training scenarios to your workplace needs.

• UETDRRF006 – Perform Tower Rescue

RECERTIFICATION

Participants are required to re-certify every 2 years from their completion date to maintain currency.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course will be delivered in the workplace or at an ERT Rescue Group Pty Ltd training facility.

COURSE DURATION 

• Face to Face – 8 hours (minimum) – full face to face course
• Refresher training – 4 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates

WORK PLACEMENT ARRANGEMENTS

No work placement arrangements will be required as part of this course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Participants must have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete this course. Due to the amount of practical training in this unit, participants must also be physically fit to complete a practical demonstration of inspecting and placing rescue equipment, performing tower rescue in accordance with workplace procedures.

PREREQUISITES

• HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and
• RIIWHS204E – Work Safely at Heights within the last 12 months

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE COURSE?

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

• Applying relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS)/Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, including the use of risk control measures
• Inspecting and placing rescue equipment
• Performing tower rescue in accordance with workplace procedures

Practical scenarios – The assessor must observe the following practical scenario:

• Performing tower rescue of a victim
• Move a casualty with a suspected spinal injury utilising scoop stretchers, spinal boards and strapping and stokes baskets

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.

*Please note that ERT Fire & Rescue supplies all equipment necessary for you to undertake your training. ERT Fire & Rescue always recommend and encourage you to bring along your own equipment. Trainee’s must wear appropriate clothing that will get dirty and enclosed footwear is essential.
