RECERTIFICATION

Participants are required to re-certify every 2 years from their completion date to maintain currency.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course will be delivered in the workplace or at an ERT Rescue Group Pty Ltd training facility.

COURSE DURATION (FACE TO FACE)

• Face to Face – 8 hours (minimum) – full face to face course
• Refresher training – 8 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates

WORK PLACEMENT ARRANGEMENTS

No work placement arrangements will be required as part of this course

Participants are required to have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete this course.

Participants also require a level of physical ability to complete this course in order to be deemed competent or issued with a statement of attainment.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE COURSE?

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

Practical scenarios – The assessor must observe the following practical scenarios:

• Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
• Implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of operating elevating work platforms
• Selecting and using the required plant, tools and equipment
• Planning and preparing for operating elevating work platforms
• Identifying, addressing and/or reporting, verbally or in writing monitoring systems and alarms
• Identifying and following procedures in emergency or hazardous situations
• Applying hand-eye coordination
• Using a range of communication techniques and equipment to coordinate activities with others
• Maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures
• Stabilising elevating work platform
• Selecting safety devices and correctly ensuring safety of personnel and surrounding site
• Completing work platform inspections and fault finding
• Completing operational servicing, lubrication and housekeeping tasks
• Disposing of environmentally sensitive oils, fluids and materials

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.

*Please note that ERT Fire & Rescue supplies all equipment necessary for you to undertake your training. ERT Fire & Rescue always recommend and encourage you to bring along your own equipment. Trainee’s must wear appropriate clothing that will get dirty and enclosed footwear is essential.
