COURSE SUMMARY

PUAFER004 – Respond to Facility Emergencies (Fire Evacuation) covers the skills and knowledge required to be ‘emergency aware’ in a facility, then this course is a must for you.

It covers the skills and knowledge required by occupants in a facility such as a building, structure or workplace, as specified in Australian Standard (AS) 3745 and AS 4083 to recognise and report emergencies, respond to emergency warnings and advice and to take appropriate action during the emergency such as choosing the most appropriate course of action and evacuating from a danger area.

All aspects of this course will be undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements, organisational policies and procedures and accepted safe practices.

RECERTIFICATION

Participants are required to re-certify every 2 years from their completion date to maintain currency.

COURSE DELIVERY

This course will be delivered:

  • In the workplace or at an ERT Rescue Group Pty Ltd training facility
  • Online learning with face to face assessment
COURSE DURATION (FACE TO FACE)
  • Face to Face – 3 hours (minimum) – full face to face course
  • Refresher training – 3 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates
  • Online training with face to face practical assessment – 20 minutes (minimum) face to face assessment with the addition of 3 hours of self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face assessment
WORK PLACEMENT ARRANGEMENTS

No work placement arrangements will be required as part of this course

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Participants are required to have a level of physical ability to respond to workplace emergencies where there may be risk to life. Participants must also be physically capable of conducting an evacuation and providing assistance to those in need.

There are no prerequisites for this unit.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE COURSE?
ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

  • Preparing for an emergency situation
  • Respond and follow instructions for a fire emergency

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. The student must complete all assessment questions.

*Please note that ERT Fire & Rescue supplies all equipment necessary for you to undertake your training. ERT Fire & Rescue always recommend and encourage you to bring along your own equipment. Trainee’s must wear appropriate clothing that will get dirty and enclosed footwear is essential.
